This sculpture, entitled Sea of the Ear Rings by Japanese-American artist Takashi Soga, is made of stainless steel. Located at the entrance to The Cummer, it stands 13 feet tall by 13 feet wide and is painted bright fire-engine red. Soga has expressed his interests gravity’s influence on space. By controlling gravity, the artist is able to show “unusual space.” Watch the upper ring of the sculpture move up and down. The sculpture is a gift of Mr. Dudley D. Johnson in memory of his son Dudley D. Johnson, Jr. (1961-2004).
