In 2006, The Cummer received its largest gift to date and completed its most recent expansion. The 4,800 square-foot Minerva and Raymond K. Mason Gallery is the largest gallery in the Museum and among the largest in the state. This addition is a state-of-the art facility with eighteen-foot ceilings and a spectacular wall of glass overlooking the gardens. Local firms Rink Design Partnership, Inc. and Elkins Constructors designed and built the space. The gallery opened to the public on December 22, 2006 with the premiere of Temples and Tombs: Treasures of Egyptian Art from The British Museum.
